I'd like to introduce The Marquess of Winchesters Regiment of the English civil war society. A group of friends who enjoy recreating the English Civil War both military and civilian.

Our website - http://www.marquisofwinchesters.co.uk

We are currently looking for new members to fill out the ranks of the regiment. To join a family friendly group of friends enjoying the hobby of recreating all the aspects of the English Civil War.

Its not our goal to concentrate on the military aspects but we are widening our scope of events to include more civilian aspects of the hobby, and thus encouraging and creating a roles for all members of the family to take part.

Introductory membership is £5 per adult for 1 weekend to take part, the regiment we loan all the kit you need to take part for your 1st few events, including the clothing you need for your children.

Our events take us all over the UK and we have staged events for English Heritage, the national trust and many privately and publicly owned house and castles.

Though we do take what we do seriously we aren't afraid to have allot of fun, yearly regimental (club) BBQ's, banquets and local get together increase the bond of friendship amongst the members.

Please visit our website to get a better idea of what we do and if you are interested in giving the hobby a go then you can contact me on 07800 924059.

On the 17th - 18th May The regiment staged an event at the Chiltern Open Air Museum, giving displays of pike, musket and artillery drill. Demonstrations of company drill and the effects of artilery on a body of infantry.

Below are a few pictures from the event, we had a new member - can you spot him - and from this event we gained 2 new more recruits, must have been Crissi's cup of tea. Wink

The weekend was quite pleasent, in nice surroundings and the opportunity to use some of the buildings we had a lot of fun. Anthea, our cook tried to make break in the cottages oven, and we had the use of the "village Hall" for the evening.

Music from 5 of our members produced a night to remmeber, our new recruit - a marketing Manager - said if it was possible to bottle the atmosphere that night we'd have no problem recruiting.

As that is not possible - he is using his skills on a recruitment/marketing pack -or you can just contact us and pop along and experiance it yourselves.Big Grin
Hi there.

Short notice I know but a few Winchesters will be at Eynsham Carnival this weekend

Be a good chance to see us if you are interested in English Civil War reenactment.

Basing House - Old Basing. 27th - 28th September 2008

Winchesters intend to use this opportunity to celebrate a very good season with a good number of new recruits joining the ranks, along with some fantastic events both big and small

Over this weekend we will have a small Living history display, and be staging a few drill displays.

We would also like to use this event as an chance for those local to Basing House who have an interest in taking up the hobby of English Civil War reenactment to come over and have a chat, try on the uniform or even handle a musket or pike. It is not as duanting as it may seem to be a reenactor and it is not a very expensive hobby to take up, we provide lots of help and support to all of our new members.

So hopefully we will see you there, it will be fun.
