A week back I went to see Russel Howard at the Anvil now I’m told he’s very funny however at the Anvil it was hard to tell as it was very difficult to follow 50%+ of what he said.

I thought it must be me, you know age related hearing loss and Tinnitus, on leaving my companion remarked she had problems too. At least it was clear I had not suffered a sense of humour failure. Ironically others were overheard complaining they had missed a lot too.

Has anyone else had this problem at the Anvil I have never been impressed with the venues acoustics at music events but it's passable but this was the first one-man show I’ve been too in the main auditorium.

I will think twice about going again. Did I complain ? well no as it was a treat for my birthday and so not my place and I didn't purchase the tickets.

Was this a one off ? How do others feel about the Anvil and the shows they have seen / heard there.

Cant remember if it was Dara O'briann or Jimmy Carr but at one of them they lost sound on one side of the auditorium and the comedian had to shout to make himself heard
I went to Jimmy Carr and the sound was perfect. One of my kids is hard of hearing and had no problems at all. I thought the Anvil was designed with good acoustics. Perhaps there is a fault with the sound system. Did you complain?
I've been to the Anvil a few times, for music, panto and solo acts. Can't say as I've had a problem with the sound . Maybe you were just unlucky in going on a night when the sound system had gremlins.
I've always thought the acoustics at the Anvil were pretty good.
