The Beast of Basingstoke

There have been many sightings of The Beast of Basingstoke in the countryside around Basingstoke since 1993 it is believed to be one or a pair of Pumas
Thought it was more like a sandy coloured animal - Lion like in shape and colour - think your getting the Puma story mixed up with the West country one.

It made the national news about 15 - 20 years ago - sightings were all focused around Crabtree Plantation - even made the GMTV news feature if i can recall!!

There are many stories round the UK of big cats living in the wild - there's the beast of bodmin and when I was a kid we had the surrey puma. I suppose it's possible that some numnut released some cats into the wild but i'd have thought we'd have had a definitive sighting by now. Shame that all the photos that do come to light are so poor, just like the nessie, big foot, yeti ones.

My other-half once swore he saw a black/dark coloured cat streaking across a field, as we came through Sherbourne-st-Johns early hours of a Monday morning heading towards Popley 4. With my eye-balls though, I missed it. It was before the days of me wearing specs Sad

I can't guarantee what he saw... but it certainly shook him up a bit. he was convinced he had seen the beast of Basingstoke
