Sad wheelie bin gone missing
As the thread title says my wheelie bin has gone missing, either some twonk has taken it for a walk and left it miles away or someone has inadvertently taken mine instead of theirs. The problem being the dustmen, sorry that should be “refuse collectors”, don't return the emptied bin to your property, they drag them all up to the collection point and leave them there creating a huge obstruction on the pavement. I remember when they used to enter your garden, collect the bin and then return it. Anyway, hopefully my bin will reappear on our next collection day, if not has anyone else had their bin nicked and is it a quick and painless procedure to get a new one from the council?

Yep. You just phone them, tell them its been nicked, and they bring another out. They endeavour to get it to you as quick as possible too.

Today, give a stranger one of your smiles. It might be the only sunshine he sees all day.

RE: wheelie bin gone missing
My wheelie went missing some time back, I found it by going to the house whose number was on the bin still in the street a day later.

I assume you just phone 844844 to get a replacement. The council seemed pretty quick in replacing a neighbour's torched bin.

RE: wheelie bin gone missing
We have lost a few in similar circumstances. Our bin is left quite a long way from our house at the top of a hill. Schoolkids use the bin to roll down the hill as a game. They don't enter our bin area and take bins, in fact they are almost forced to do this as bins block the entire pavement.

It would be good if every house could have a marked 'parking place' for their bin so that refuse collectors knew where to collect it from and where to return it to. This would prevent the lazy abandoning of bins for a whole street in one communal collection point.

We have had our bins replaced free of charge but how long it takes has varied. Sometimes it takes only a few hours, sometimes a week leaving us with nowhere to put our rubbish.

RE: wheelie bin gone missing
well i've just had a conversation with a very helpful lady from B&DBC who has ordered me a new wheelie bin Big Grin which should be delivered within 10 days, she did offer me a delivery of refuse sacks to help tied me over which again was very good.

One thing that made me chuckle was that when I told her my bin had gone missing she said that sometimes the bins fall into the lorry and don't come out again. So they've thrown my bin away!!! Rolleyes

RE: wheelie bin gone missing
our bin frequently goes to visit the neighbours up the street thanks to the bin men dragging it up there. Other times I cant get on my drive because they've left 3 or 4 bins in the way.

I miss the Bass House

When it was open, we normal people would always know that the lowlife would all be in one place

RE: wheelie bin gone missing
I've just found a foreign wheelie bin down my back passage and it's not very pleasant - can someone please come and remove it - preferably with rubber gloves!!
