Amateur Photographer looking for inspiration
Hi there!
I'm not quite sure if this is the right place for this but I figured it's worth a shot. I'm an amateur photographer building up my portfolio and I'm looking for models of any age (minimum 16) who would be willing to allow me to snap portraits of them. I'm not looking for a specific look because I would like a very diverse portfolio. Therefore, before spending hundreds of pounds for a professional, you could probably see what I have to offer. It's completely free so it's no risk to you. I would be practising my skills while you get to have some decent pictures of yourself on a CD at the end of it. To give you a rough idea of what I do, you can check out my work so far at: http://www.hapit.co.uk/index.php/gallery/ I've yet to branch out into my own photography website. Therefore, if you explore the site, you'll see that my gallery of portraits is combined with my blog (which isn't ideal but will do for now). For the shoots, I looking for someone who isn't afraid of close-up portraiture and someone who's willing to try out different shots. Someone who's not afraid to pull faces, jump, blow daffodils or run around fields etc. It'll be on location (not studio) and theme would be spring/summer. If you're interested, you can reach me at reeta@hapit.co.uk. Thanks for reading and I look forward to your replies. P.S: If this isn't the appropriate place for this thread, I do apologise. I live in the Basingstoke and was looking for an avenue where I can reach out to fellow "Basingstokians" and this was the only forum I came across which I thought would be great for it. |

I think a lot of people feel they aren't pretty or attractive enough to have their portraits taken. I get that response alot when I'm on a photowalk in town and approach random strangers to snap portraits of. But what people don't realize is that it's the little imperfections or flaws that make a portraiture so much more interesting and beautiful. If you do feel like conquering your shyness and having some portraits done, it could be where u're most comfortable (i.e. your own living room etc or even with someone else...a best friend or a pet)...please feel free to drop me a line. |

Hey Reeta, you have some very nice shots there - especially the ones of the brunette girl, most of those are rather nicely lit. Like Della, I am also too shy to be photographed, but since I am a pro photog (who likes to stay on this side of the camera! LOL!) I thought I would chime in and say GOOD LUCK!

RE: Amateur Photographer looking for inspiration
Hi mcl,
Thanks for your reply! I've only been photographing for a couple of months and it's great to know that I'm doing something right (especially coming from a pro photographer!). I took some shots of the 6-yr old yesterday. It sure was a challenge...seeing as she was so fidgety and her attention span was probably close to minimum. It was definitely an experience to say the least. I will be uploading her snaps on the site tonight...so check it out again and let me know what you think! Thanks again for your comments. |
