Big Brother 09
Surely something has to change this year, they seem to have picked an extreme group of characters again, next follows the withdrawal of food, they are then deprived of other luxuries and given large quantities of alcohol all designed to fuel augments. Well that’s been the pattern to date anyway, it’s getting very tedious maybe the format will change this year...

RE: Big Brother 09
Hi SeaMatt - great idea to open up this section of the board.

I love Big Brother - but no more for me. Its lost its magic and sparkle - think it lost it a few series ago but the opening show did it for me. Individuals so far removed from the British public its ridiculous. Crazy personalities and representation from other countries has taken Big Brother away from where it should be. Thank god for 20/20 cricket but after tonight dismal performance i am not sure i will be watching that for much longer!!!!

It was tedious after the 1st series. People forget that this was originally designed as a social study not a game show.
People must be seriously lacking in any sort of life, social or otherwise to want to watch 10 or so idiots trying to make a name for themselves in the media by being on BB.
As for the format, why should they change it? When a shepherd knows how to round up the sheep he doesn't change his method.
They have the social sheep hooked & for the next however long this drivel is on the TV the sheep will bleat on about who is next to be booted.

RE: Big Brother 09
exactly Abaddon, the first few were new, inotavtive and entertaining to watch the trouble is the format is not changing and the contestants are getting more extreme... but I don't think labelling those who view it as sheep is on, just because people like something doesn't make them sheep, you could say the same about football fans it's just a matter of liking something for what it is however I would expect that viewing numbers will be down this year as it is very "samey" and if the viewers are down advertising will be withdrawn and the show will die.

It has the potential to be really entertaining if they get the format right but I dont think I can be bothered to watch and find out.

RE: Big Brother 09
being one of them so called sheep. i quite enjoy moaning about the people in the house. they do like get in the most strangest people they can. and again i don't like any of them but i'm sure one will grow on me, like in past series.
i think this is the last year they are doing it any way.

It is not ok to be so rude about people just because they watch or take part in a particular TV programme. I can't see the point of grown men chasing a ball around a field would do but I don't make personal comments about people just because they watch or play football or rugby or cricket.

It would be a boring world if we all liked the same things and clearly BB appeals to an audience as it has been going for years and made some contestants successful. As well as Jade, I can think of Brian who presents children's TV and Jon Tickle who is on that children's science programme .........and I barely watch TV so there are probably a lot more that I don't know of.

I suppose that BB is interesting because it is about real people and most people like to relate to other people. Also they are ordinary people and it is a show that anyone can apply to be in. Maybe people watch and wonder if they could be on it next year.

I wouldn't like to. There are certain things like showering and going to the toilet that I just wouldn't want to do in front of a camera. The contestants must be very outgoing and confident.

OMG Della, how do you think that BB is about "real people"? It is a controlled environment & the "real people" in there have to perform tasks like lab rats.
As I previously said the whole concept was originally a social study, hence the tasks.
Della, you say anyone can apply to be in there & I agree anyone can apply. However most prefer to not have their life & lifestyle exposed to the media.
As for the next year I for one was hoping there would not be a BB this year, as it is now old, tired & the producers are flogging a dead horse for sensationalism rather than for the original conception.

RE: Big Brother 09
i wouldn't say any of them were so called normal people. the producers always seem to pick the people with way out personality's and most of them want to be stars of some sort. but then if they had boring people in there no1 would want to watch.

got to say there are one or two that have already starting to get on my nerves.
