The Doctor is in
Doctor Who returns to our screens on the 15th of this month at 7pm for The Waters of Mars.
This episode is sees us 3 away from David Tennant being replaced by Matt Smith in the new year, with a double episode scheduled for Christmas, when the swap over will occur.
Like many I am nervous of losing such a talented actor as Tennant for the relatively unknown Matt Smith, but have to remember many had similar misgivings when Christopher Eccleston gave up the role.

If you gaze for long into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

RE: The Doctor is in
OK, here's my prediction:

Episode 1 - Dr Who v Cybermen
Episode 2 - Dr Who v Daleks
Episode 3 - Dr Who v The Master
Episode 4 - Dr Who v Daleks & The Master
Episode 5 - Dr Who v Cybermen & The Master
Episode 6 - Dr Who v Daleks & Cybermen
Christmas Special - Dr Who v Daleks, Cybermen and The Master

Or is my opinion a cynical swipe at the BBC's lack of imagination?

I keep hitting 'Escape' but I'm still here.

You are being well cynical! Check out the trailer, there are far more foes than that in this series ( didn't you spot the "weeping Angels" that grab the Dr?), and they are only the few that they have chosen to show. More will be kept well under wraps!

I am soooooo looking forward to it Big Grin

These will be the same weeping angels that appeared in the last series then?

Series 3 actually. I quite like seeing old characters/foes come back from time to time as it helps bridge the gap between old and new doctors. I'd like to see the Silurians again. There was a bit in the latest Radio Times introducing some newer characters. Quite looking forward to the new series and seeing how the new bloke does.

Yeah me too. Im looking forward to seeing the Ood again. 1 exception though, I'd happily see the Cybermen killed off for good Sad

Not a chance The Doctor will continually battle with 'the last of' the cybermen and the daleks until the end of the universe. Quite literally in fact!

I just think that the idea behind Dr Who is that he can travel to any place and any time in an infinite number of universes. Any writer would have a field day with that brief. But they keep coming back to a handful of baddies in the present-day (give or take a hundred years or so) on Earth.

I keep hitting 'Escape' but I'm still here.

RE: The Doctor is in
I personally can't wait - not only do we have a new Doctor (and Assistant) but Steven Moffat has taken over the reins from Russell T - Steven Moffat has written and produced some of my favourite episodes - The Empty Child, Weeping Angels and The Library.

As much as I like Russell T and David Tennant, I was getting a bit fed up with falling in love with the Doctor thing that was going on - Rose, Martha etc. I think Steven Moffat will bring a whole new darker edge to the Doctor AND I CAN'T WAIT!

So what did everyone thing of the new Dr?
I thought as an introductory episode it was OK and Matt Smith showed a lot of promise and looked like he was already really enjoying the role. Let's hope Amy does not fall into the same "falling in love" bit with him like Rose and Martha. That's why I warmed to Catherine Tate as Donna cos she didn't.
