lol Mr Stick.
You're getting as bad as the Basingstoke Rag (Gazette). The Western has been closed for weeks.

Seems like many pubs around town are closing & to me it's a shame that many of them are "listed" buildings. If there were not they could be converted to better use, like accommodation.

RE: Great Western is closed again
You sure - could have sworn it was open the other day? It's not a pub I frequent but it was certainly open over Christmas and New Year(or am I really going senile). I walk past it regularly and only saw that sign today - mind you that might just say more about how observant I am (or not)

Some pubs have been converted - there's one in tadley done a while back.

The Great Western seems to have been struggling for ages now. Perhaps it's on the wrong side of the railway line or it's past reputation didn't help. The Way Inn is in danger of going downhill at the moment. It's a nice pub with good beer but the beer has been a bit hit and miss lately and some evenings you can't hear yourself think when the juke box is cranked up.

RE: Great Western is closed again
Good Morning all,

It was closed for the first time about 2 years ago and somebody took it over then, it closed again last week. so when you say you have seen it open recently that is correct but it has now closed.

RE: Great Western is closed again
I've never used the Western that much, but can recall enjoying a really good breakfast there on a number of occasions.
It seems to open and close quite often.

Well compared to the Gazette I had an exclusive - it's made today's edition
