Oh how we need our role models
Great to see that the GAME organisation is getting behind supporting 'A Place to be Proud of Awards' for the second year in a row. we need to have this support and be visible about saying 'well done' to all those role models in our community who don't go around boozing under age, or damaging properties or generally causing mayhem!
Also good to see that Dave Holby has rowed 26,600km – two-thirds around the world – without ever leaving Basingstoke town centre, and in the process, he has raised £12,000 for a cancer charity. I don't think we can do enough to advertising and encouraging this sort of behaviour - we see too much reporting of anti-social behaviour which probably only represents 30% of our young people. The world as we know is full of good and bad - we just have to keep focusing on the good and making sure that 1. it's well advertised and 2.l well supported - well done Dave Holby - maybe we need a 'support Dave Holby' thread here? Evil exists when good men/women remain silent |

RE: Oh how we need our role models
Yes good luck to him with his fundraising and good to see someone doing something to help others and keep fit. 'Stars' in the media are not always good role models so perhaps we should do more to make sure that kids see guys like this as a hero instead of pop stars who take drugs or footballers who spit and swear and are unfaithful.
