RE: Vent your frustration
Falling 'off the wagon' on my diet. I started so well, lost 4lb the first week and 15lb by the end of the first month. Weighed myself this morning expecting to reach that magic 1 stone and found I had lost absolutely nothing despite sticking to the diet properly.
![]() So I had to have a large chocolate bar to commiserate and it has been downhill all the way ever since.

RE: Vent your frustration
Oakridge Road Roundabout.... The signs leading into Oakridge don't tally with the directional arrows in the road. Been like it for nearly a year now ....and I'm never sure which I should follow. Though whichever I decide to use - someone always beeps me assuming it's me in the wrong lane

RE: Vent your frustration
I saw a crash there about a year ago caused by someone using the middle lane to go to Oakridge (as per the signs not the road markings) and some idiot trying to turn onto the duel carriageway from the inside lane (which he shouldn't have been doing) assuming that the car in the middle lane would also turn off to the duel carriage way as per the road markings. It is about time they remarked the lanes.

RE: Vent your frustration
I go round that roundabout nearly every day - the signs are quite clear so the fault lies with the numnuts who ignore them, stick cameras up and prosecute.

RE: Vent your frustration
Non-stick, yes the signs are clear, but check out the arrows in the road. The signs say 1st lane for motorway/town; 2nd lane for Oakridge; 3rd for Popley/Reading. The lane markings however say 1st and 2nd lanes straight on ( motorway/town); 3rd lane to go around (Oakridge/Popley/Reading) If you follow the lane markings, and use the 3rd lane, you end up having to cut anyone up behind you that also then needs to get into the Oakridge lane ( by now the 1st lane) that has followed the road signs as oppossed to the lane markings.
(Not sure if that makes sense - anyone else know what I mean and can explain it clearer?) Today, give a stranger one of your smiles. It might be the only sunshine he sees all day. |

Yes the signs are quite clear; pity the road markings don't match. Those who do not follow the signs might not be 'numnuts' just law abiding drivers following the road markings. Coming from the direction of Chineham or up from the ringroad from Winklebury direction, as you approach the traffic lights on the roundabout that are level with the turning for Daneshill, the signs clearly show that traffic from Oakridge should be in the middle lane. The road markings show the middle lane as ahead only i.e. turning off on to the ringroad in the direction of Black Dam roundabout and only the right hand lane is marked with an arrow for traffic to stay on the roundabout. Personally I use the middle lane as per the signs but indicate right to show I am staying on the roundabout. This might not be correct but it is difficult to know what to do when the signs and road markings don't match. |

RE: Vent your frustration
Well none of that provides any excuse for some prat trying to go down the ring road from the right hand lane - ergo still numnuts not "law abiding" motorists. Probably the same boneheads who think you can turn left onto Chineham park from the right hand lane at the red man or those that turn right onto Winchester Road from the left hand lane at that roundabout down from Town Centre West.
I must admit I tend to look at the signs - that way I'm looking forward not down. Time for a recheck tomorrow methinks. And no-one should need to cut anyone up, slow down indicate and give way to each other |
